Scene 1:
‘Morning’

It was a bright cold day with glassy surfaces that looked hard.
Into the square frame he stood as if in a dream.

What emerged was precisely what he expected to find: a reflection of memory images. Contemplating his face in the photo frame he waited.

By the steady hands of his watch, he listened to time. Every day for the past sixteen days he saw her. Silver lingered in the crease of
an open book.

So absorbed in his thoughts
he hardly saw the platinum catch-all, the key, or the revelation locked inside those lapis lazuli cufflinks tossed unmistakably in cold blue.

‘Noon’

He remained.Trapped in that enormous room,
unmistakably familiar in feeling yet so peculiar.

Above the mantle was
displayed an Austrian hound
of impeccable integrity.

His gaze fell on the letter opener. By accident she had learnt more about his life from the contents of that letter than anywhere.

Cleopatra’s eye reflected
the sun. Through the hypnotism
of precious metals there
emerged a dark slender shadow.

‘Evening’

All this time light was receding from the room.

“I should explain why I spend so much time here”, said the silhouette. Leaves moved like shadows across her eyes.

It’s not too late to turn back. Time moved with faint sounds.

He unscrewed the telescopic cup, rolled and remained still. Black eyes on the dice prophesied a new cycle.

Scene 4:
‘Night’

Everything went crashing black.

Pale graceful hands placed
the gold stud box delicately
on the table.

He lit a match to make sure the watch had really stopped. Smoke lingered from its vesta case.

A sterling silver large plain silver bowl by Tiffany & Co..  This is an exceptional example of a sterling silver set as one is likely to find.  Simple in design, so as to not complicate the home setting, but masterfully made.  The finish is a plain throughout. The only "detail" this piece could be guilty of showing is a soft scalloped sides along the sides of the bowl.  The interior features the most sumptuous of yellow gold gilt washes.  The gilt wash, gold plating, is not only done for aesthetic reasons.  The gold wash also protects from the fruit, or other contents inside the bowl from tarnishing the sterling beneath.  This process is seldom done today, and when it is the colour is unfortunately never as luscious as this original hue, now one hundred years old.

Very simple, and neat, being complete with no decoration or ornamentation, the bowl is of the highest quality.  This fruit Bowl is made in the Chippendale style with fluted sides and corners, scalloped double-beaded top edge. A very thick gauge of sterling is used throughout, and presented  in exceptional condition.  This bowl could fit comfortably into even the most modern and paired down of homes.

On the base is a wonderful full set of Tiffany & Co. marks with product reference number 17032. The bowl was made circa 1920's, when this pattern was introduced. The director's letter “M”. This piece, with the italic m, was for John C. Moore II. He presided over the company between 1907-1947.

The condition is superb throughout.  It is ready to be enjoyed and used. Clean both inside and out.  This is a wonderful center piece for a dining table, or for a large side table or coffee table.  The bowl weighs over twenty five troy ounces, and so has a great presence to it.  This piece appears to have only been made in this size and has a capacity of five pints, if filled with liquid. There is an original engraving into the center of the bowl of the letters W B M.  They are hand engraved into the piece and show a mastery of engraving.
