Scene 1:
‘Morning’

It was a bright cold day with glassy surfaces that looked hard.
Into the square frame he stood as if in a dream.

What emerged was precisely what he expected to find: a reflection of memory images. Contemplating his face in the photo frame he waited.

By the steady hands of his watch, he listened to time. Every day for the past sixteen days he saw her. Silver lingered in the crease of
an open book.

So absorbed in his thoughts
he hardly saw the platinum catch-all, the key, or the revelation locked inside those lapis lazuli cufflinks tossed unmistakably in cold blue.

Scene 2:
‘Noon’

He remained.Trapped in that enormous room,
unmistakably familiar in feeling yet so peculiar.

Above the mantle was
displayed an Austrian hound
of impeccable integrity.

His gaze fell on the letter opener. By accident she had learnt more about his life from the contents of that letter than anywhere.

Cleopatra’s eye reflected
the sun. Through the hypnotism
of precious metals there
emerged a dark slender shadow.

‘Evening’

All this time light was receding from the room.

“I should explain why I spend so much time here”, said the silhouette. Leaves moved like shadows across her eyes.

It’s not too late to turn back. Time moved with faint sounds.

He unscrewed the telescopic cup, rolled and remained still. Black eyes on the dice prophesied a new cycle.

Staring down at the varnished surface her mouth worried him while her eyes examined the gold cufflink.

Scene 4:
‘Night’

Everything went crashing black.

Pale graceful hands placed
the gold stud box delicately
on the table.

He lit a match to make sure the watch had really stopped. Smoke lingered from its vesta case.

An automatic stainless steel and eighteen carat white gold Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust reference 1601 model. This example is a very early and rare dial with no applied luminous material that has gone on to be referred to as a 'no lume' dial, with white gold stick markers. These unusual dial, although having "T Swiss T" stamped at the base of the dial, these batches did not have any luminous material applied to the ends of the hour markers, or to the spaces inside then hands. In this instance, the hands are filled with black enamel paint, which is also reflected with the cheese wedge style design of the hour markers also being painted in black. 

The watch is powered by a Rolex, Swiss made, twenty six jewel automatic calibre 1570 movement that powered the majority of all Rolex models since its launch in 1965, from the Datejust to the Submariner. These early models Datejusts can be identified as they have the earlier, characteristic, 'pie pan' style dial. These early models also come without the more ergonomic 'Quick Set' date function, nor the newly designed smaller profile case, all of which were introduced later into the 1970's. These early cases still have the spring bar holes exposed from the side, which was eventually phased out around the early 2000’s.

The watch is fitted to its original Rolex Jubilee stainless steel and fourteen carat gold bracelet. The inside of the deployant buckle is stamped "2 71", having been made in the second quarter of 1971. This is an early folded link bracelet that is very comfortable to wear and features the great looking large crown logo closure. It has sag, but this doesn't affect its comfort on the wrist.  The bracelet is now over fifty years old. The watch itself was made circa 1971 with serial number 2,705,XXX. The watch is excellent, original condition, with the case being lightly polished, but showing good thickness to the lugs and case feet.

The watch has recently been serviced and comes with a Foundwell one year warranty against   mechanical   failure. There are no box and papers with watch
