A Day
Observed

A story presented by

Scene 1:
‘Morning’

It was a bright cold day with glassy surfaces that looked hard.
Into the square frame he stood as if in a dream.

What emerged was precisely what he expected to find: a reflection of memory images. Contemplating his face in the photo frame he waited.

By the steady hands of his watch, he listened to time. Every day for the past sixteen days he saw her. Silver lingered in the crease of
an open book.

So absorbed in his thoughts
he hardly saw the platinum catch-all, the key, or the revelation locked inside those lapis lazuli cufflinks tossed unmistakably in cold blue.

A heavy silver plate Art Deco bar tray.  This stylish, clean and high quality bar tray or tea tray that can be accommodated by the most modern home. The tray features two fine, stepped handles with a clean Deco geometric finish running along the edge.  The plain aesthetic can lend itself for many uses throughout any home.  It is wonderful size and will prove very useful.  The make is superb, the likes of which cannot be found today either in design or quality.

The tray was made the English silversmith's Mappin & Webb.  Perhaps one of the  Mappin & Webb are one of England's most celebrated silversmiths and a luxury retailer with a rich history, who are still in existence today.  During this time they were perhaps at their peak.  They were working with one of the world's best multi-disciplinary designer; Keith Murray.  Although it is uncertain if Murray had his hand in the design of this tray, it very much has his inspiration that he would have had on all of the other in-house designers working around him at the time. Operating out of both London and Sheffield this is marked into the maker mark, along with date letter "A", product reference number and the model reference number. The condition of the piece is excellent throughout.  Made in England, circa  1936.
