A Day
Observed

A story presented by

Scene 1:
‘Morning’

It was a bright cold day with glassy surfaces that looked hard.
Into the square frame he stood as if in a dream.

What emerged was precisely what he expected to find: a reflection of memory images. Contemplating his face in the photo frame he waited.

By the steady hands of his watch, he listened to time. Every day for the past sixteen days he saw her. Silver lingered in the crease of
an open book.

So absorbed in his thoughts
he hardly saw the platinum catch-all, the key, or the revelation locked inside those lapis lazuli cufflinks tossed unmistakably in cold blue.

A grained Clemence calf and Amazonia rubber backpack by Hermès.  This exceptionally rare and essentially unused piece is a true masterclass by the world's leading bag and leather accessory maker.  It is so good, that it is as good to admire as it is to use.  The functionality is excellent with comfortable cotton webbed shoulder straps ingeniously integrated into the bag, opening up to a trademark toile lined wonderful interior, including a small interior slip pocket.

The back is constructed entirely from one piece of gorgeous natural coloured, supple calf leather with a handsome grain running through it.  This one piece also goes on to become the base of the bag.  All the leather edges are finished to the standard one expects from Hermès, tonally painted to perfection.  The front of the bag is an exceptional article that was popular with Hermès for a short period of time, cutting a number of silhouettes in it.  This is an amazing canvas backed rubber called 'Amazonia'.  As it sounds the article comes from the Amazon, where it remains the only place on earth that these rubber trees grow in the wild.  It was avery special article that was developed exclusively for Hermès for a 2007 collection.  So good is its appearance an feel that many believed it to simply be leather.

Being natural, it is fragile, and needs to be taken care of.  Today very few examples from this collection can be found is such exquisite condition.  Along with the original box and packing from Hermès are a number of sachets of treatment that were sold at Hermès to condition the article and keep it soft and from cracking.

A rare chance to obtain what will be a highly sought after piece of Hermès history. A  rare time when the legendary company stepped away from conventional accessory making materials.
