A Day
Observed

A story presented by

Scene 1:
‘Morning’

It was a bright cold day with glassy surfaces that looked hard.
Into the square frame he stood as if in a dream.

What emerged was precisely what he expected to find: a reflection of memory images. Contemplating his face in the photo frame he waited.

By the steady hands of his watch, he listened to time. Every day for the past sixteen days he saw her. Silver lingered in the crease of
an open book.

So absorbed in his thoughts
he hardly saw the platinum catch-all, the key, or the revelation locked inside those lapis lazuli cufflinks tossed unmistakably in cold blue.

His gaze fell on the letter opener. By accident she had learnt more about his life from the contents of that letter than anywhere.

All this time light was receding from the room.

An Hermés Kelly Pouchette clutch bag in vert vertigo swift calf leather. This is a modern take on perhaps one of the most iconic bags ever made. The bag is finished in this eye catching and beaufoul vertigo green colour with the  interior finished in complementing vert vertigo Agneau leather, featuring one slip pocket with the bag having gold plated hardware.

The Kelly clutch is best understood as a distillation of the Kelly itself. The original design began life in the 1930s as the Sac à Dépêches, later tied to Grace Kelly’s adoption of the bag in the 1950s, and formally renamed “Kelly” in 1977. What makes the clutch versions so compelling is that they keep the core architecture, the trapezoid body, sangles, touret and turn-lock, then reduce everything down to an evening scale.

Hermès explored Kelly clutches well before the modern resale frenzy. The Kelly Crutch (1989–2000) is an important early reference point, a clean, handle-free silhouette that still reads as unmistakably Kelly. In the early 2000s, the Kelly Elan followed as an even sleeker expression, and then Jean Paul Gaultier’s tenure pushed the idea further, with the Kelly Longue (introduced 2006, produced until 2008) acting as a transitional shape between classic proportions and the more graphic clutches that came next.

The contemporary clutch family, the pieces most people mean when they say “Kelly clutch”, lands in two milestones. The Kelly Pochette debuted in 2004, effectively a miniature Kelly built to be carried by its discreet top handle, structured, compact, and instantly legible across the room. The Kelly Cut arrived in 2008, longer and more dramatic in proportion, designed to sit flatter and read sharper as a true evening clutch while keeping the same signature closure hardware.

The bag is presented in brand new condition with no use. The plastic still remains on all of the hardware. The inside of the of the bag is fully stamped with all the relevant Hermés codes. This bag was made in 2018. It is presented in its original dust bag, along with protective felt, box and dust carrier bag.
