A Day
Observed

A story presented by

Scene 1:
‘Morning’

It was a bright cold day with glassy surfaces that looked hard.
Into the square frame he stood as if in a dream.

What emerged was precisely what he expected to find: a reflection of memory images. Contemplating his face in the photo frame he waited.

By the steady hands of his watch, he listened to time. Every day for the past sixteen days he saw her. Silver lingered in the crease of
an open book.

So absorbed in his thoughts

A silver plates articulated photograph frame in the form of a Dachshund retailed by Hermès.  This exceptional and very rare frame is both well made and charming.  It is hinged to open up and extend to show six 'frames' to fit individual photographs.  It can then also be collapsed to hide them all.  This wonderful novelty design has such charm and character, and for the many fans of this breed around the world, a must have piece for the home.  The fact that is was designed and made for Hermès simply adds a cherry to an already delicious cake!

The piece was made by the French manufacturers Ravinet D'Enfert for Hermès.  They were large scale silversmiths in France and were contracted by Hermès to make home goods for the luxury atelier during the mid 20th Century.

The piece is fully singed on the side of the back of the last frame, along with D'Enfert's makers mark.  The quality and feel is of what has come to be expected of the brand, and the condition is excellent throughout.  One of these frames was in fact owned by Princess Margaret, the current Queen Elizabeth II's sister.  With both the queen and her sister keeping this adorable breed.  Made in France, circa 1960's.
