A Day
Observed

A story presented by

Scene 1:
‘Morning’

It was a bright cold day with glassy surfaces that looked hard.
Into the square frame he stood as if in a dream.

What emerged was precisely what he expected to find: a reflection of memory images. Contemplating his face in the photo frame he waited.

By the steady hands of his watch, he listened to time. Every day for the past sixteen days he saw her. Silver lingered in the crease of
an open book.

So absorbed in his thoughts
he hardly saw the platinum catch-all, the key, or the revelation locked inside those lapis lazuli cufflinks tossed unmistakably in cold blue.

He remained.Trapped in that enormous room,
unmistakably familiar in feeling yet so peculiar.

Above the mantle was
displayed an Austrian hound

His gaze fell on the letter opener. By accident she had learnt more about his life from the contents of that letter than anywhere.

All this time light was receding from the room.

A solid eighteen carat white gold Piaget "TV" shape watch with factory diamond bezel. When it comes to stunning jewellery forward time pieces, it is hard to look any further than Piaget. In this instance we have another classic and rare watch from the Swiss luxury powerhouse. Known as the jeweller watchmakers, this stunning example exemplifies why they have this mantle. The classically 1970's horizontal TV shaped case is framed by a border of stunning, bright white brillant cut diamonds. It is not just a seamless white gold case and integrated bracelet, but there is a subtle almost wood bark-like grain finish applied to the exterior of the white gold bracelet.

The dial in this instance is a very clean and elegant radiant finished silver. As aforementioned, this is an example of what happens when luxury watch making collided with haute jewellery. The bezel is set with thirty four brillaint cut diamonds, that, in watch case setting standards, are quite large. Usually in bezel framing stones are 0.01 of a carat or less, in size. The diamonds used here are tapered at the top and the bottom portion of the bezel. They begin approximately at .05 and graduate to .07 of a carat each. So, a total carat wight of approximately 2 carats of beautiful, fiery well matched bright stones..

The watch is powered by a manually wound caliber; the 9P. The Piaget Caliber 9P, launched in 1957, is a historically significant ultra-thin, hand-wound mechanical movement that established Piaget's reputation for creating flat watches. Developed by Valentin Piaget, it measures just 2mm thick that truly allowed Piaget to present itself as the "specialist of the slimmest watches in the world." The reduced thickness was a very practical feat, since it allowed the production of slimmer watches.

The watch is in fabulous condition with an unpolished sharp case. All of the case back numbers are present and razro sharp. The model number of the watch is 9432. Research on this model pulls up no exact comps. This highlights the rarity of this particular watch. Models 9431 show results, whihc is the same case shape, and design. But, not set with the cactory diamonds. If you are looking for an incredibly chic and stunning watch with the added beauty of diamonds in the bezel, it is hard to beat this watch. The case measures a generous 32.5mm accross, so it has a great presence on the wrist, and the TV shape allows it to wear very comfortably.

Please note, the bracelet length is over seven and a half inches from end to end. They cannot be lengthened without adding a "ladder". However, this bracelet is long enough to accomodate almost all wrist sizes. The bracelet is all original, also unpolished and fully signed for solid eighteen carat gold.

To this day, Piaget still create spectacular and daring pieces of art mounted to their elegant and fine movements. This original example from the 1970's offers a stunning opportunity to own a very rare model in pristine condition at a fraction of the price an equivalent watch would sell for today.
