A Day
Observed

A story presented by

Scene 1:
‘Morning’

It was a bright cold day with glassy surfaces that looked hard.
Into the square frame he stood as if in a dream.

What emerged was precisely what he expected to find: a reflection of memory images. Contemplating his face in the photo frame he waited.

By the steady hands of his watch, he listened to time. Every day for the past sixteen days he saw her. Silver lingered in the crease of
an open book.

So absorbed in his thoughts
he hardly saw the platinum catch-all, the key, or the revelation locked inside those lapis lazuli cufflinks tossed unmistakably in cold blue.

His gaze fell on the letter opener. By accident she had learnt more about his life from the contents of that letter than anywhere.

A solid fourteen carat rose, or pink gold watch chain, or necklace.  This is the very unusual and interesting link heavy, high quality chain. It appears to be a conversion from an old Albert, or watch curb link chain, complete with the dog clip clasp. The necklace also features a round, sprung, c-shape clasp on the other side. There are two styles of link used here; a classic 'paper clip' design, and a very unusual, highly attractive, thick and heavy lovers knot. The lighter paperclip runs to the back where the clasp sits.

There is no marking to the chain, but this is not unusual from this time as marks were often hidden and have worn away from over 125 years of wear. The chain has been fully tested with an XRF gun, and is fourteen carat gold. This is a very high quality and rare link chain, and has a great weight to it, weighing nearly sixty grams. It is nineteen inches in length and 8.5mm thick links at their widest part, so will sit perfectly on most necks.

Not only is it a stunning link, the colour and hue of the antique gold is like nothing that has been captured by todays metal blends. Today's pink gold often has too much copper and is too red. The antique blending of metals has the perfect lustre and appearance to it. If you are looking for a spectacular and very old necklace, this is very much hard to top! This type of necklace is so popular now amongst men and women with many of the world's most glamorous and stylish people turning to these old chains to bring excitement to a look.

Made in America, circa 1890's.
