A Day
Observed

A story presented by

Scene 1:
‘Morning’

It was a bright cold day with glassy surfaces that looked hard.
Into the square frame he stood as if in a dream.

What emerged was precisely what he expected to find: a reflection of memory images. Contemplating his face in the photo frame he waited.

By the steady hands of his watch, he listened to time. Every day for the past sixteen days he saw her. Silver lingered in the crease of
an open book.

So absorbed in his thoughts
he hardly saw the platinum catch-all, the key, or the revelation locked inside those lapis lazuli cufflinks tossed unmistakably in cold blue.

A solid fourteen carat yellow gold diamond and black opal three stone ring. This beautiful ring is an example of a classic design that has been popular for generations. The ring consists of a wide, thick, tapered band in yellow gold set with the three stones. The center stone is surrounded by two tapered, brilliant cut, beautifully bright and clean diamonds. Each diamond is estimated to be 0.15 carats each, VS1 clarity and G/H color. Set in the center is a very interesting oval black opal. The opal is a little under a carat. The finished product is an interesting combination on a classic piece of ring making.

The black opal at the centre of this ring displays the characteristic play-of-colour that has made these stones among the most prized gemstones in the world. Flashes of vivid blue move across its dark surface, creating a depth and vibrancy that changes with every shift in light.

Most fine black opals originate from the famed opal fields of Lightning Ridge, Australia. Their rarity lies in a unique internal structure that diffracts light into brilliant colours, with darker body tones producing the most dramatic effect. The rich blue flashes seen here are particularly sought after for their elegance and understated beauty.

No two black opals are ever alike. Formed over millions of years, each stone possesses a pattern and character entirely its own, making every example a singular work of nature

The three-stone rings have blossomed in popularity in recent years, gracing the hands of brides and brides-to-be. Harking back to the sentimental Victorian era, this timeless design was once imbued with deep symbolism - the three stones representing the pillars of a lasting union: loyalty, friendship, and passion. It is also regarded as representing - the past, present, and the future. A very romantic thought.

The inside of the shank is stamped with AD and 14k. The maker of the ring has not been identified. The ring is worn and has patina and scratches to it. As is to be expected from a ring from the middle of the 20th century. The center opal is also abraded. We have chosen to leave all the original patina. However, shoulld you wish for the ring and stone to be polished, we can arrange to have this done. The ring wears very well and is a comfortable finger size of 8 US. It can be sized if required.

 Made in America, Circa 1970's.
