A Day
Observed

A story presented by

Scene 1:
‘Morning’

It was a bright cold day with glassy surfaces that looked hard.
Into the square frame he stood as if in a dream.

What emerged was precisely what he expected to find: a reflection of memory images. Contemplating his face in the photo frame he waited.

By the steady hands of his watch, he listened to time. Every day for the past sixteen days he saw her. Silver lingered in the crease of
an open book.

So absorbed in his thoughts
he hardly saw the platinum catch-all, the key, or the revelation locked inside those lapis lazuli cufflinks tossed unmistakably in cold blue.

A silver and crystal cocktail shaker featuring an acid etch recipe menu in Spanish. The recipe cocktail shaker has been a staple barware piece with a number of makers from all over the world all interpreting it in their own, unique, way. This version is quite a classic form with its conical tapering design and the cocktails being etched into the body. However, this high quality shaker has a lot more recipe's than normal. These shakers tended to feature anything from six to twelve cocktails, However this has a double stack of them making up twenty four cocktails, and perhaps even more unusually, it is all in Spanish.

This very rare and stunning cocktail shaker is a real Art Deco talking piece for the home bar entertainer.  It is a large bodied classic, three-piece, shaker.  Meaning; part one is the sterling lid which lifts off fully to allow the filling of ice and ingredients. Part two is the smaller version of the lid, a cap, which lifts off exposing the strainer with a grid base keeping the ice falling into the drink. Part three being the extra large crystal body which is where the magic happens in your mixing journey. There is a very nice silver collar to the top of the body which both protects the glass and also helps a tighter fit for the lid

The design of the piece is superb. The two pieces of the lid fit well into the body allowing for vigorous shaking.  But, it is suggested that you must keep your hand on the lid to prevent it from coming off! The sterling lid and collar are in superb condition. The condition of the crystal body is perfect, and beautifully executed with some slight wear to some of the etching.

The cap of the lid is stamped with a makers mark, and the base also has metal hallmarks. A superb piece of Art Deco design that will not only transform any home bar but also is a very useful size for those that like to throw parties.  Not only a useful piece, but also stunning as an objects in its own right.  It would demand center stage in even the most well equipped home bar. And, if lit from the base, really comes alive.

Produced in Latin America, circa 1930's.
